Uber has joined forces with the Mumbai Indians cricket team to provide complimentary shuttle services for fans attending Indian Premier League (IPL) matches at Wankhede Stadium in Churchgate, Mumbai. The initiative, launching on Monday, aims to enhance the match day experience whilst reducing traffic congestion around the venue and throughout the city.
Uber To Offer Free Shuttle Rides Between BKC-Wankhede
On match days, a fleet of ten Uber Shuttle buses will ferry supporters between Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Wankhede Stadium before matches commence. After the final wicket falls, return services will operate to Bandra, Worli and BKC.
This service has been specifically designed to help cricket enthusiasts avoid the typical challenges of match day travel, including heavy traffic, limited parking and the difficulty of securing last-minute rides.
Complementing the shuttle initiative, Uber will introduce special promotional codes offering discounted car journeys to and from the stadium, further encouraging fans to choose shared transport options over private vehicles.
How You Can Reserve Seats In Advance For The Shuttle
Snehashish Nag, Head of Strategy for Uber Shuttle, commented: “Uber Shuttle brings the reliability of Uber to buses. As Mumbai Indians’ mobility partner, this service offers fans a convenient way to travel whilst easing traffic congestion. We look forward to making match days more accessible for MI supporters.”
Booking a free shuttle is straightforward through the Uber app. Fans simply enter Wankhede Stadium as their destination or pickup point, select the Shuttle icon, choose their preferred time slot and confirm. Seats can be reserved in advance, guaranteeing an air-conditioned journey with no standing passengers permitted.
Pre-match shuttles will depart from MMRDA Ground Parking opposite Metropolitan in BKC, whilst post-match services will run from near Cooperage Bandstand close to Wankhede, heading to Haji Ali, Phoenix Palladium and BKC. As seats are limited, allocation operates on a first come, first served basis.
