On November 26, hundreds of passengers from South Africa were healed at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. This is because South Africa has a new Covid-19 variant called Omicron. Experts warn that this covid-19 variant is spreading faster than even the delta variant. First discovered in southern Africa’s Botswana this is a worrisome variant. The super strain has 30 mutations. Many countries like Canada, the USA and the European Union have blocked flights from African countries after the discovery of the Omicron variant.
UK To Restrict Travel For Citizens Who Refuse COVID-19 Booster Shots
Many countries are slowly opening their borders to fully vaccinated Indians without the need to quarantine. There is some great news here for Indian tarvellers waiting to travel to the UK. The UK government lifted the quarantine guidelines for the fully vaccinated passengers from India vaccinated with Covishield. Issuing a statement, Alex Ellis, British High Commissioner to India, said that no quarantine is required for Indian travellers to the UK who have been fully vaccinated with Covishield or any other UK-approved vaccine from October 11.
What Are The Travel Rules For Unvaccinated Passengers?
If you are traveling to the UK, you should be abreast of these new rules:
- Carry an RT-PCR test report taken 72 hours before departure.
- Book and pay for RT-PCR tests that you should take on day 2 and day 8 after arrival in England.
- Fill passenger locator form any time in the 48 hours before departure.
Fully vaccinated Indians travelling to UK will be treated as unvaccinated by the UK and will have to go through 10 days self quarantine followed by a test. Strange because Covishield was developed in the UK! India should return the favour.

The red list, which covers over 50 countries, is in place to protect public health in the UK. We do not want current travel restrictions to be in place any longer than necessary and recognise the disruption they cause and the impact on people’s lives. https://t.co/uf6tq9GFow
