UK’s Worst And Best Airports List Is Out; The Best Is Liverpool’s John Lennon And The Worst Is…

UK

Travellers in the UK are facing a lot of issues with flight cancellations and delays these days. There have also been instances of staff strikes and air traffic control faults. The recent air traffic control failure actually left many passengers stranded at the airport. This can’t be chosen, but the airport surely can. According to Which’s annual study, Liverpool John Lennon Airport is the greatest airport in the UK, with Manchester coming in last.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport Is The Best In The UK

Nearly 4,000 travellers were polled by the consumer champion on their airport experiences, with ratings given in 11 areas based on overall satisfaction and likelihood to recommend. At check-in, bag drop, passport control, and security, these included seating, personnel, restrooms, and lines.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport had an 82% rating and was deemed “first class”. Customers gave it five stars for their hassle-free experience in the security and check-in lines. Here’s the list of the best airports:

  1. Liverpool John Lennon
  2. London City
  3. Southampton
  4. Bournemouth
  5. East Midlands
  6. Newcastle
  7. Glasgow International
  8. Leeds Bradford
  9. London Gatwick North
  10. London Heathrow, Terminal 4

What features do the top airports in the UK share? They’re all fairly small. Compared to Heathrow’s 62 million passengers, the six airports in the table below with customer scores of 70% or above all served fewer than five million travellers.

Worst Airports

Liverpool John Lennon Airport, which is a Which Recommended Provider, is only 30 miles away, yet the experience at Manchester couldn’t be more dissimilar.

Customers at the UK’s worst airport’s terminals 1 and 3 had to endure a protracted and badly marked trek from the parking lot, “horrendous” lines at bag drop, security, the (inadequate) restrooms, and costly food options. (As per Which)

There was nowhere to sit when people weren’t in line, the staff was unfriendly, and the terminal needed “a good clean in places.”
