Wish to see the engineering and aesthetic prowess of an age-old tower in Patna? Golghar is the place to be. The circular-designed tower was constructed in the 18th century, and its goal was to store grains for the locals and the British army. A spiral staircase takes you to the top, where you can see a panoramic view of the beautiful city and the river Ganges. Even though it seems like an aesthetic spot, its purpose was functional. Captain John Garstin built and designed it uniquely to prevent a catastrophe like famine.

The door was built in such a way that it opens from the inside! Fascinating, right? This dome structure is built without pillars and beams; just brick and lime mortar were enough to construct this 29-metres-tall architectural gem in Patna.
