United Airlines Flight Diverted And Forced To Land At Denver Due To A Crack On The Windshield

United Airlines cracked windshield

One of our biggest fears while travelling in a plane is mid-air issues that can lead to emergency landings or flight diversions. And that’s exactly what happened on a United Airlines flight on Sunday. A United Airlines flight to Washington DC had to be diverted to Denver mid-flight due to a cracked windshield. The flight departed from Los Angeles and was on its way to the Dulles International Airport. However, when they noticed the cracked windshield, they diverted to the Denver International Airport in Colorado. Thankfully all passageways and staff were safe and easily deplaned before being carried on another flight.

The United Airlines Flight 1627 was forced to land in Denver on Sunday due to a cracked windshield. The flight departed from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas for Washington DC. However, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, they were forced to make a detour to Denver due to a crack in the windshield.

The Boeing 737-800 bound for Washington DC carried 166 passengers and seven crew members. As per United Airlines, they all safely deplaned and boarded a Boeing 737-900 to Dulles. According to a statement issued by the airline, “the plane was diverted due to a maintenance issue.”

The FAA also made a statement on the entire issue and said that cracks on the windshield happen across all aeroplane models. They explained that windshields are composed of “multiple layers of tempered glass and other materials.” They also stated that these cracks usually happen on the outer glass panes that “serve as a protective covering for the inner structural portion.”

The Alaska Airlines mid-air blowout earlier this month has unlocked a new flying fear for many of us. While this might be a mere maintenance issue, such incidents do leave the passengers terrified and confused.
