UAE Introduces A One-Month Window For Residents With Expired Visas To Return Home

The UAE has unveiled a temporary relief programme for expat residents who have been stuck outside the country due to expired visas. Governments assured that residents affected can visit without seeking a fresh entry permit, thereby relieving the burden of travelling on the many that could not fly back to their countries previously.

The UAE Is Granting Expats With Expired Visas To Return Without New Entry Permit

The relocation, which was announced by the Federal Authority of Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), will last one month. The policy will operate between February 28 and March 31, and this is a limited period in which residents can come back and clarify their residency status.

Interim Relief Of Expats In Foreign Countries

According to the report by The Gulf News, the decision applies to the expats who could not go to the UAE prior to the exhaustion of their residency visas because of unusual situations.

Under the temporary rule, residents with the required qualifications may fly back to the UAE even if their visa has expired. In the usual case, such individuals have to seek a new entry permit prior to their return. This action eliminates such an additional step during the regional disruptions.

Upon arrival in the country, residents must complete the necessary official procedures to regularise their residency status. Once in office, authorities will take the process to lead them.

The Reason Why The UAE Implemented This Measure

According to the officials, the initiative represents the adaptability of the UAE to administrative processes in the situation when some unusual events take place. Delays and other inconveniences related to travel might make the residents unable to come back on time and be stranded in a foreign land with limited choices.

The ICP said that the objective is straightforward: to assist residents in getting home with no unnecessary complications. This will help the government eliminate travel barriers, support expats practically by letting them enter first and later filling out the paperwork.

What Residents Should Do Now

The expats who are entitled to the policy must do it as soon as possible. The exemption is just for the one-month window until the end of March 31.

All pertinent documents, such as expired residency visa details and passports, should still be carried by the travellers. Airlines can seek to be convinced that the temporary regulation is in effect prior to boarding passengers. To thousands of expats who deem the UAE their home, it is a welcome lifeline back home, but with no need to go through the paperwork to drag the process.
