UAE Authority Exempts Visitors, Residents From Overstay Fines Amid Flight Suspensions

The UAE has also intervened to help travellers affected by the recent flight disruption. The Federal Authority of Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security assures that the affected travellers will not have to suffer fines associated with late departures.

It is the waiver for individuals who could not leave the UAE due to uncontrollable circumstances. These come in the form of momentary airspace shutdowns and airline flight cancellations, which left travel plans in the region in shambles.

The exemption applies to fines received after February 28, 2026, so that travellers no longer have to concern themselves about the extra fines.

The policy is applicable to various groups of individuals who were intending to leave but were unable to because of the disruptions.

These include:

1. Tourists with tourist visas
2. Individuals on visit visas
3. Passengers with exit documents

Those residents who withdrew their residency permits in anticipation of departure.
