One of the most asked questions in the aviation industry currently is: “Why are flights getting delayed and cancelled to such a major extent?” Considering the uptick in flight disruptions worldwide, this looks like a never-ending obstacle that needs to be resolved ASAP. Recently, a passenger travelling with Air India faced a major problem due to flight delays and other reasons.
Passenger Slammed Air India On X
Taking to X, Harshad Gupta (@harshad0406) shared his horrible experience of flying with the airline and all the inconvenience he and his travel partners had to face.
*How Air India almost tried to spoil our vacation* @airindia #flyAirIndiaStayHome
We had a flight from Mumbai-Ahmedabad and Ahmedabad-Ho Chi Min City-Bali with 6 hours layover in Ahmedabad. Air India had to delay the flight by 6 hours bcoz they did not have CREW!!

Harshad ranted about how the airline almost spoiled his vacation. According to the scheduled flights, his journey was supposed to begin from Mumbai to Ahmedabad and then travel to Ho Chi Min City and lastly, reach Bali. Meanwhile, he also had a layover of six hours in Ahmedabad. The mishaps began with Air India delaying the flight by six hours as they did not have sufficient crew.
Ground support kept promising us of landing in AHM before 9pm only to realise that they can only fly at midnight. We had to rush out to the gates and then buy another ticket to our destination else our trip would have been wasted.
— harshad gupta (@harshad0406) July 27, 2024
While he and other passengers were waiting to board the delayed aircraft, ground support informed them that they would land in Ahmedabad before 9 PM. Unfortunately, they later came to know that the flight could “fly at midnight.” As Harshad and his travel partners had flights to catch, they booked tickets to reach their destination on time.
We do understand that lot of flights were delayed due to bad weather, but you shouldn’t give false promises. Moreover flight delay due to no crew is just amusing. We continuously kept asking the Manager to let us know extent of delay and if we should look for alternatives.
— harshad gupta (@harshad0406) July 27, 2024
While Harshad understood that delays due to unforeseen adverse weather conditions are not in the hands of airlines, he pointed out that they should not give false promises to passengers waiting to board planes. Though flyers asked the manager about the extent of the delay and whether they should arrange alternatives, there was no definite response.
What Was The Manager’s Reply?
All she said to us was to not be worried as they will put us on another flight only if the current flight is delayed by more than 2 hours. After 3hrs, we were informed abt further delay and no alternate flight available.
— harshad gupta (@harshad0406) July 27, 2024
The manager responded to their confusion stating that the airline would put passengers on another flight “only if the current flight is delayed by more than 2 hours.” Later, flyers got to know about the increase in delay and an alternate flight was unavailable at that moment too.
My suggestion- Unless matter of life and death, avoid Air India. Almost all their flights are delayed and support is just pathetic. It was more on time before privatisation!!
— harshad gupta (@harshad0406) July 27, 2024
Slamming the airline, the X user suggested Netizens avoid Air India “unless matter of life and death.” He further added that all other flights faced delays too. Also, he called the support team pathetic.
@airindia We are yet to receive refund even after 14 days ! Pls atleast process that atleast.
— harshad gupta (@harshad0406) July 27, 2024
It has been 2 weeks since this incident. However, Harshad did not receive his refund.
Have you travelled with Air India before? If yes, do share if you have had similar experiences.
