Mumbai monsoons typically start in June and last till October. However, rains surprised Mumbaikars with its unusual downpour. Mumbai witnessed sporadic spells of light showers between Sunday and Monday. The rains not only brought the temperature down but also helped disperse pollutants presenting Mumbai with the best air quality since October 19.

Air Quality Satisfactory In Mumbai
The air quality index on Monday was 76, which falls under the satisfactory category. October 19 was the last time when Mumbai recorded an AQI lower than this of 68. However, the AQI remained in the moderate category through the rest of November. The light showers improved the air quality of the city. Drop In Maximum Temperature
The intermittent spells on Sunday and Monday morning caused the maximum temperature to drop to 26.9 degrees Celsius. The lowest maximum temperature in the past decade was recorded in December, 2017, at 23.6 degrees Celsius. However, the minimum temperature fell marginally from to 22 degrees Celsius, both in the suburbs and the city.

However, the surprise shower led to traffic snarls, poor visibility and wet conditions through the city. All we can say is, while the rains are welcome, the traffic is not.
