She joined our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, to converse endlessly about life, career, food and more. When chatting about food at restaurants, we touched upon the topic of her habit of paying bills for everyone at the table. Here is the special reason, tum bhi follow kar lo yaar ab!
Why Uorfi Javed Wants To Pay Bills At Restaurants?
Forget about Splitwise when you go out with the fabulous Uorfi Javed. Her funda is to never let anyone pay when they are out with her. Whether it is a date night, a girls’ night out or a professional meeting, she insists on paying the bill. Kamiya learned about this when her husband, Sammar Verma, went for a work discussion with our guest.
She truly won’t let you pay and did the same with Sammar. Kamiya wanted to know the reason behind it. She recalled her struggling days in Mumbai and said, “For a very long time, when I was here (Mumbai), I couldn’t do it. I didn’t even have money when I used to go out with my friends. I didn’t even have money to pay my share.”
Uorfi Javed continued, “So that really somewhere hurt me. Now, I just feel like it doesn’t matter how many people are dining at the table. Even if the bill is ₹10 lakhs, I will pay the bill!” It is truly a wonderful evolution.

Equality Or Equity?
While speaking about the topic of equality vs equity, Uorfi said that, for her, it is more about equity. She clarified that if she is bringing a larger amount of money into the household as compared to her future spouse, she will contribute more and vice versa. The fashionista added that in today’s world, this mantra should be obeyed. We 100% agree with this outlook.
