Uorfi Javed is not only a fabulous fashionista, who is known for creating out-of-the-box outfits, but also a massive foodie! Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, caught up with the ‘Follow Kar Lo Yaar’ reality star on this recent episode of Sundowner at Shifuku. We were at Shifuku by Curly Tales to enjoy delicious drinks, dim sums and more along with having delightful conversations about Uorfi Javed’s life in Mumbai, food choices and more.
Does Uorfi Javed Have Any Favourite Food Joints In Mumbai?
When two foodies meet, they will have continuous conversations about eateries, hidden gems, recommendations and more. This is exactly what happened when Kamiya, a Mumbaikar met Uorfi, a Lucknowi! Uorfi was raving about the flavourful cuisine one finds in the City of Nawabs. She went on and on about her hometown’s scrumptious biryani, sheermal, kebabs, nihari and more.
After gushing about Lucknowi food, we wanted to learn about her thoughts on Mumbai food. Uorfi was close to cringing and sipped on her cocktail to avoid the question. Kamiya couldn’t help but laugh at our guest’s reaction. Uorfi turned the tables and asked Kamiya about the best places for biryani in Mumbai.
Kamiya said, “I don’t know if this place is still operational, but I used to love Zaika in Bandra and Zaffran’s biryani is to die for.” She mentioned that the latter changed its branding and isn’t operational now. Lastly, she praised the flavourful Mutton Biryani from Butter Chicken Factory.
On hearing the last recommendation, Uorfi remembered ordering Butter Chicken from Butter Chicken Factory. She quite didn’t like this dish and joked about how a restaurant named ‘Butter Chicken Factory’ served below-average Butter Chicken. It was a laughter riot!

A Huge Fan Of Vada Pav
Having lived in Mumbai for close to seven years, Uorfi Javed had to adjust to an entirely different lifestyle along with developing a palette for Mumbaiya street food. Slowly and steadily she realised that pav is used in almost every food item here. Starting from vada pav, dabeli, misal pav and more, every dish has soft bun bread.
It was only in recent years that she fell in love with Vada Pav. She is a fan of this Mumbai street food and can’t stop thinking about it. She even blamed the viral Vada Pav girl from Delhi for having piqued her interest in this dish. Well, this iconic street food grows on everyone over some time.
