Uorfi Javed Shares How Mumbai’s Pav Slowly Grew On Her

For this exciting episode of Sundowner at Shifuku, the bold and unfiltered, Uorfi Javed joined our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, at Shifuku by Curly Tales. We chatted about her newest reality show, ‘Follow Kar Lo Yaar’, took food recommendations, and questioned her about Mumbai’s pav among other engaging topics. Check out how she, finally, appreciated Mumbai’s pav.

Uorfi Javed’s Thoughts On Mumbai’s Obsession With Pav

Uorfi is the ultimate foodie who loves her biryani, kebabs, dim sums, and a plethora of delicious food items. Hailing from Lucknow, she raved about Lucknowi cuisine and how much she misses the decadent desserts, aromatic biryanis and melting-in-mouth kebabs. It’s been a couple of years since she permanently moved to Mumbai. She had to experience drastic changes in food.

The transition from consuming boiled rice or roti regularly to understanding Mumbaikar’s undying love for ladi pav was quite a journey for her! She joked about how Mumbai folks are lazy (another utterly false assumption) to make pots of rice or bake fulka rotis, so they switched to pav.

Kamiya, as a Mumbaikar, couldn’t help but laugh.

Uorfi Javed recalled her first experience of indulging in a pav but it just wasn’t for her. But something in her changed over the years! She completely fell in love with the common bread of Mumbai, especially dishes consisting of pav. The reality star said, “Slowly and slowly, pav just grew on me. Dabeli, vada pav, misal pav, I just love misal pav. I drool thinking about it!”

She continued, “I didn’t quite like Pav for the first five years in this city. For some reason, in recent years, I have acquired a taste for Vada Pav. It was maybe because of those viral reels of that Vada Pav girl (in Delhi). I don’t know what magic it did but I love Vada Pav.”
