UP Auto Driver Carries 27 Passengers In His 5-Seater Vehicle

Cab and auto drivers in India have always believed in cramming up vehicles irrespective of space, size or even capacity. In one such incident in Uttar Pradesh, an auto driver carried not five or 10, but 27 passengers in his 5-seater auto vehicle. The UP auto driver had both elderly and children on board and was speeding towards its destination. UP Police, then, stopped the auto, only to discover the number of people travelling inside the 5-seater auto. The video from the incident in the Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh has gone viral.

UP Auto Driver Chased By Police

The auto driver was rushing with the 27 passengers, following which the UP Police had to chase the vehicle down. In the video, the police personnel counts the number of passengers as they disembark from the vehicle. As he continues to count, a total of 27 passengers are found to be travelling in the vehicle. The auto has been seized by the police.

Overcrowding Vehicles – A Serious Issue?

Not only autos or the public cabs, but reports of overcrowding school autos have cropped up in several parts of the country. No matter the location, overcrowding vehicles is a common sight in India. Whereas no strict action is taken, nor do the drivers abide by the rules. A dangerous practice in itself, it can seriously lead to difficult situations like accidents and congestion, especially for children. Autos and cabs carry a bigger number of passengers, putting passenger safety at stake to earn extra bucks. The situation goes for public buses as well.

On the other hand, overloaded heavy vehicles are fined as they increase the probability of road accidents and traffic congestion.
