Jungle safari in India has its very own fanbase. Then, there is a separate fanbase for the Vistadome coaches that ply on select routes in the country. Winning both, and more fanbases, the Uttar Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board has announced something major. In a first, the state will be home to India’s very first Vistadome jungle safari train.

A while ago, their X (formerly Twitter) handle posted, “Step aboard the Vistadome Coach from Bichia to Mailani and experience the breathtaking beauty of Terai forests — all from the comfort of a panoramic glass-roof train. Let the rhythm of the rails bring you closer to nature!”
The picturesque train ride connects Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary to Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, and along the way, you might just find yourself enthralled by the exciting wildlife experience. In fact, Kishanpur Wildlife Century has also been integrated into the route to offer a memorable experience to the passengers.
What Is The Hallmark Of This Train?
Yes, with transparent roofs and large glass windows offering travellers a panoramic view of the passing scenery, it certainly shines a light on the natural beauty of the state. Although it’s currently operational on Saturdays and Sundays, there are plans to expand the services so that it’s operational on a daily basis according to business standards.
More Details About The Timings
As it happens, this train allows tourists to travel 107 km inside the forest. So, with such an opportunity, people might just chance upon spotting exquisite wildlife as they zoom by the forest. The experience lasts for 4 hours and 25 minutes, with the tickets setting you back by ₹275 per person. The train departs from Bichia station in Bariach at 11:45 AM before arriving at Mailani station in Lakhimpur Kheri at 4:10 PM. In fact, the return service then departs at 6:05 AM from Mailani before reaching Bichia by 10:30 AM.

The Train Passes Through Nine Stations

Vistadome Coach passes through nine stations, which include:
- Bichia
- Manjhara Purab
- Khairatia Bandh Road
- Tikunia
- Belerayan
- Dudhwa
- Palia Kalan
- Bhira Kheri
- Mailani
As it happens, the board is also developing a package so that tourists can travel from the state capital Lucknow to Katarniaghat.
Offering travellers a scenic diversity, the journey takes you through wetlands, grasslands, woodlands, and even farmland throughout the route. With a year-round appeal, it’s bound to be a favourite for travellers who wish to experience something different.
