Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a two-day visit in the UAE. During this visit, he will be inaugurating the first traditional Hindu stone temple in the country. Not to mention, he will also hold several meetings with the high-level authorities from the UAE. During some of these bilateral meetings, the Indian Prime Minister revealed that soon UPI RuPay card service will soon be available in Abu Dhabi.

UPI & AANI Payment Method Linked Ahlan Modi Event

During the Ahlan Modi event that took place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, several notable developments took place. Yes, after the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan jointly signed an agreement, it was revealed that UPI card service will soon be available in Abu Dhabi. In the significant event, President Al Nahyan swiped the card, which was personalised with his name. This, as a result, marked the initiation of the service in the UAE capital!

What Does It Mean For The People In The Country?

As it happens, according to a report by PTI it was revealed that the two nations agreed to link their instant payment platforms, UPI in India and AANI in the UAE. So with the significant agreement, domestic debit and credit cards have now been linked. This will facilitate seamless cross-border transactions.

It’s worth noting that the move aims to strengthen financial sector cooperation and of course, enhance the economic ties. It’s worth mentioning that UPI payment service will soon also be available in Mauritius and Sri Lanka, besides the UAE. Not to mention, earlier UPI was also formally launched at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

In case you aren’t aware the Prime Minister of India, is currently on a visit of the Gulf region. He is going to inaugurate the BAPS temple in Abu Dhabi, on February 14, which is today!
