Robert Carradine, known for his role in Lizzie McGuire, has passed away at the age of 71. The actor died by suicide. His on-screen daughter, Hilary Duff and on-screen son Jake Thomas and co-star also paid emotional tributes on Instagram, remembering their on-screen TV Dad. Condolences have been pouring in from friends and fans online.

The star, known for his roles in Revenge of the Nerds and Disney’s Lizzie McGuire, died by suicide. According to The Guardian, Robert Carradine was suffering from bipolar disorder. His family confirmed this news to Deadline. They also hope his journey can help address the stigma attached to mental illness. His family has requested privacy during this tough time.

Hilary Duff, who played Lizzie McGuire, also took to her Instagram account to pay tribute. She posted photos with him and wrote, “This one hurts. It’s really hard to face this reality about an old friend. There was so much warmth in the McGuire family, and I always felt so cared for by my on-screen parents. I’ll be forever grateful for that. I’m deeply sad to learn Bobby was suffering. My heart aches for him, his family, and everyone who loved him.”

Not just Hilary Duff, but his on-screen son, Jake Thomas, also took to his Instagram account to share a heartbreaking post. He called Robert Carradine the ‘cool TV Dad’ while bidding him goodbye. He wrote, “Whether he was fixing a disaster or just being Sam, he was the heart of our childhood afternoons. For many of us, the McGuires were the blueprint for a supportive family.”

Many of Robert Carradine’s fans are heartbroken, as Lizzie McGuire was a comfort show for many. Losing the actor has shaken fans across the world. According to The Guardian, Robert Carradine made his film debut alongside John Wayne in The Cowboys in 1972. He later appeared in Coming Home, Revenge of the Nerds, and more. He became well known among children as Lizzie McGuire’s father, Sam, appearing alongside Hilary Duff in 65 episodes.
