Passengers on the Air India San Francisco-Delhi flight faced a mid-air scare on Monday. As per a report by The Times of India, the flight was diverted to Mongolia after a technical snag was discovered mid-air. Air India also took to its official X account to confirm the news. The airline stated that the flight AI174 of November 2, operating from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata, had landed safely in Mongolia. The aircraft was now undergoing necessary checks.
 Air India further mentioned that its team was working closely with partners to ensure all passengers reached their destinations at the earliest opportunity. The official statement ended with the airline writing, “We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the unforeseen situation. At Air India, the safety of passengers and crew remains a top priority.”
Alternative Aircraft Being Arranged For Passengers
According to a report by Republic World, Air India is in touch with the Indian Embassy to arrange an alternative aircraft for the stranded passengers. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is also making efforts to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. All passengers and crew were safely disembarked upon landing.
As per the same report, a low quantity of engine oil was the reason behind the technical glitch. However, authorities are carrying out further checks to confirm the exact cause of the snag. According to a report by NDTV, a Boeing 777 aircraft was operating the flight, though the total number of passengers has not been revealed. Authorities are now awaiting further details on the incident.
