The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to install 200 water ATMs and 6,500 tap stands at various locations for Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj. The state government will set up pipelines and water tankers throughout the mela premises to ensure that no devotee goes thirsty during the month-long event. Read on to know more about this.
Water ATMs & Taps Stands For Devotees
As part of Maha Kumbh 2025 preparation, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to place 200 water ATMs and 6,500 tap stands to cater to over 400 million pilgrims who are expected to attend the famous mela. According to India Today, the state water department will set up pipelines spanning the entire fairground to cater to the water needs of pilgrims.
Purified RO (reverse osmosis) water will be made available for the people attending the mela with a press of a button. About 1,249 km long water pipelines will be set up at several locations along all the approach roads and open grounds in the outer part connected to the fair area. Reportedly, water tankers will be deployed at places where pipelines are not available.
As per India Today, the Jalkal Department, Jal Nigam, and Irrigation Department will be working together throughout the Maha Kumbh 2025 to ensure a 24-hour water supply for the pilgrims. Also, they have constructed 36 tube wells and arranged tankers for the inner areas of the fair.

Maha Kumbh 2025 will be held from January 13 to February 26, 2025, in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. Over 400 million pilgrims are expected to visit this famous fair that is held once in 12 years. The festival is held at four locations by rotation. These locations are Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nasik. It is believed that if a devotee takes a bath during Maha Kumbh, then all their sins are washed away. It is also said that they attain moksha after this birth.
The mela starts with Makar Sankranti and ends on the day of Mahashivratri. Maha Kumbh 2025 will begin with the Paush Purnima bath, which is on 13 January 2025. It will conclude with the last bath on the day of Mahashivratri on 26 February 2025.
