The Uttar Pradesh government is aiming for a Guinness World Record this year. Authorities are gearing up for the grandest ever Deepotsav in Ayodhya on October 19, 2025. The festival will not just be about lights and diyas, but also showcase modern technology. Not only that, but Varanasi’s Dev Deepawali is set to add 500 drones to its celebration this year! Here’s what we know so far.
Ayodhya Deepotsav Aims For Guinness World Record
Just like Varanasi’s famous Dev Deepawali, which attracts thousands of devotees from around the world, UP is planning something similar for Deepotsav in Ayodhya this year. They are preparing to light 26 lakh diyas along the ghats while also attempting a Guinness World Record.
According to a report by Moneycontrol, this year’s celebration will also be technology-driven. The event will feature drone formations, 3D holographic visuals, laser light shows and projection mapping of the Ayodhya Ram Temple and Saryu ghats, making it a multimedia cultural extravaganza.
‘Ram Ki Paidi’, a series of ghats on the banks of the River Saryu, will serve as the central stage for the drone and laser light shows. Organisers are also planning holographic presentations that will narrate episodes from the Ramayana, accompanied by musical projections, to create a spectacular storytelling experience for visitors.
Moreover, the festivities will also highlight the traditional culture of the region with 30 troupes from across India performing Ramleela episodes, folk dances and much more. Organisers have reportedly appointed around 7,000 young volunteers to handle diyas, logistics and crowd management.

500 Drones For Dev Deepawali In Varanasi
As per a report by Amar Ujala, Dev Deepawali, famously celebrated in Varanasi, is also preparing for something special on November 5. Officials are planning fireworks, 3D laser and drone shows for the celebration. This year, 500 drones will together showcase the sights of Kashi and Ayodhya in 20 minutes. The show will also highlight the glory of Kashi, its rich heritage, and its development over the last decade. Arrangements and bookings have already begun, with hotels filling up in advance.
Dev Deepawali, which marks Lord Shiva’s victory over the demon Tripurasura, is believed to be the day when the gods descend to bathe in the River Ganga. On this day, millions of diyas light up the ghats of Varanasi with cultural performances, adding to the celebration.
Both Ayodhya Deepotsav and Dev Deepawali in Varanasi are set to be spectacular this year without a doubt!
