Uzbekistan has just rolled out a fresh welcome visa for GCC travellers. Starting 1 June 2025, citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman can now visit the Central Asian nation without needing a visa. They can stay for up to 30 days from the date of entry, perfect for everything from a long weekend getaway to a full cultural deep dive.
Uzbekistan Welcomes Gulf Visitors With New Visa-Free Entry Policy
This move comes in hot as a presidential decree aims to boost the country’s tourism sector. Titled “On measures to sharply increase tourist flow and rapidly expand the scope of tourism services in 2025–2026,” the decree is Uzbekistan’s roadmap to becoming a regional tourism powerhouse.
What’s The Big Picture?
The visa-free update is part of a grander plan to boost tourism’s role in the national economy. Uzbekistan has set itself ambitious targets for the end of 2025, including attracting 15.8 million international tourists, generating $4 billion in tourism exports, and mobilising 40 million local tourists to travel domestically.
The country is laying out solid infrastructure with the launch of 378 new tour operators by year-end. That means more curated experiences, better travel services, and broader regional coverage for globetrotters looking to explore this landlocked yet richly diverse country.
For GCC travellers, the relaxed visa policy couldn’t come at a better time. With direct flights, cultural similarities, and an increasing curiosity among Gulf nationals to explore lesser-known gems, Uzbekistan is fast becoming a bucket list-worthy destination. From the ancient Silk Road cities of Samarkand and Bukhara to scenic mountain escapes and hearty Central Asian cuisine, the offerings are endless.

What Else Is New In 2025?
Plenty, actually. Starting next year, regional tourism development plans will be drafted annually by the end of November to ensure continuous growth and tailored initiatives. These plans are expected to vary by region, highlighting local heritage, crafts, and experiences unique to each area.
Additionally, Uzbekistan is launching “International Tourism Week” during the third week of every November. This will feature cultural events, travel expos, and promotional offers to lure both domestic and international tourists.
The second Saturday and Sunday of each month from June 2025 will be celebrated as “Family and Group Travel Days.” Under the “Travel Across Uzbekistan!” programme, locals and visitors alike can expect attractive deals & group travel incentives. There are possibly surprising experiences to encourage wider exploration of the country’s landscapes.
Uzbekistan: The New Frontier For Gulf Travellers
With the new visa-free access and an aggressive tourism strategy in place, Uzbekistan is making clear moves. It will soon reposition itself on the global travel map. For citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman, this is the perfect opportunity to explore Uzbekistan with zero paperwork needed.
