Varanasi Election: From Chai To Water To Food, Here’s Everything Offered To Voters For Free

This year’s Lok Sabha election at the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency was organised on June 1, 2024. Eligible voters cast their votes on Saturday. Ahead of the election, some special arrangements were made for the people of this holy city. From offering food to tea, several stalls were opened yesterday for the voters. Let’s take a look at everything special set up yesterday.

There Were Different Arrangements For Voters

It is terribly hot in most parts of India with scorching heatwaves affecting regions. The temperature has continued to exceed 40°C in many areas over the past several weeks. However, no extreme weather conditions could diminish voters’ enthusiasm to exercise their right to vote. A huge section of people headed to their polling booths and cast votes. It was the much-awaited election day in Varanasi and residents of this city turned up to the booths for voting.

If you are a local of this city or even travelled here sometime back, you might have heard about the popular Pappu Tea Stall. This famous tea shop near the Assi Ghat was one of the few places that arranged fee chai for people who cast votes yesterday.

According to a report by The Times of India, the Pappu tea stall provided tea and biscuits for free. Hundreds of people gathered near the shop to enjoy chai and biscuits after casting their votes. It might be unbearably heat outside but have you ever seen any Indian tea lover refuse a cup of tea?

Special Efforts Made For Varanasi Election

It is crucial to have proper shade and drinking water facilities while conducting any event outdoors. Among everything, the election is surely the biggest and most important of all. To continue the election smoothly, multiple arrangements were made. In many polling stations in Varanasi, drinking water was offered. To avoid the scorching sun rays, shades were there. For old people and voters with disabilities, there were wheelchairs as well.

Different organisations contributed and put efforts into enhancing the election experiences at Varanasi’s polling booths. They set food stalls for voters on Saturday and served soft drinks and some food options. The Times of India report further added that Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple also offered biscuits, sherbet, and water yesterday.

According to reports, the temperature was as high as 40°C in many places in Varanasi. All these special arrangements for voters surely helped them to get some respite from the heat during the daytime.

All the 7 phases of the Lok Sabha Election have concluded. The results will be out on June 4.
