As of Monday, November 11, 2024, Vietnam has introduced a new online e-visa portal to enhance its tourism services. Travellers planning to visit the country should take note of these updated procedures. The new online e-visa portal will operate alongside the existing site, which currently processes over 15,000 applications daily. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about the new portal and what it entails.
Vietnam Launches Online E-Visa Portal: Step-By-Step Guide

According to an article which was recently published by the Travel And Tour World, this additional platform aims to provide a more seamless and improved e-visa application experience for international visitors. To begin the application, travellers must first ensure they are using the official government websites.
Attempting to apply through unofficial channels or submitting incorrect/incomplete information on the official portals has previously led to processing delays and rejections. On the new e-visa platform, applicants will be required to upload a passport-style photograph as well as a digital copy of their passport’s information page.
The system will automatically compare the uploaded photo to the passport image, calculate a match percentage, and then extract relevant data to pre-fill the e-visa form.
How To Go About The Process Of Applying Through It
Travellers must then review and accurately complete all personal information fields, including last name, first name, date of birth, gender, nationality, and other required details such as professional information, travel itinerary, and visa type.
Once the application is approved, travellers holding an e-visa can enter Vietnam through 42 designated entry points. These include major airports like Noi Bai in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Phu Quoc, as well as various seaports and land border crossings with neighbouring countries.
Data from Vietnam’s National Tourism Administration reveals a significant 41.3 per cent increase in international tourist arrivals for the first ten months of 2024, totalling over 14.1 million visitors. The top source markets include South Korea, China, Taiwan, the United States, and several European countries.
