Vir Das, a globally recognised actor and a comedian, has now come out in support of Air India, which has been getting a lot of backlash since its London-bound flight crashed on June 12 and claimed over 200 lives. The London-bound flight crashed moments after its takeoff from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.

Comedian and actor Vir Das took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to express his support for Air India after its London-bound flight got into a tragic crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday, June 12. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft had 242 people on board. Everyone has passed away except one sole survivor.
In a post, Vir Das stated, “It’s a tragic day for so many families. And all our thoughts and prayers are with them. I just wanted to add my support for the crew. I’ve flown Air India all my life. It is not an airline without problems, but without fail, I know them to be the best crew in the sky. Time will tell what happened on this tragic flight. I cannot imagine how hard it is for them to do their job right now, having lost their own. For the crew, just to say one stands with you. And hopes to see you soon on a flight.” As per the report in HT, the flight crashed moments after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. Along with the people onboard, many people, including those at the crash site, suffered injuries and died as well.

Some of his followers supported him and commented, “Never really liked your content but this one tweet deserves respect. Couldn’t have said it better. We all share the grief of those impacted by this tragedy.” while another added, “I can’t imagine what their loved ones would be going through rn. Almighty, give them the strength to surpass these difficult times. And the Air India crew is one of the nicest crews I know.”
London-Bound Air India Flight
As per HT, the aircraft was en route to Gatwick International Airport and was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members. All the people onboard have passed away except one sole survivor, who is now being treated for his injuries. As per the report, former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has passed away as well. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited the crash site in Ahmedabad to meet the officials, the team, and the people who were injured in the aftermath of the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad.

As per Mint, besides the 241 people on board who died in the plane crash, four MBBS students and a doctor’s wife were also killed at the site of the crash.
