Vishnu Manchu Has Been Inspired By His Father’s Stardom Since He Was A Child

Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, met Vishnu Manchu for a wholesome South Indian-style Sunday Brunch. Son of Telugu cinema icon Mohan Babu, Vishnu has carved his own path in the South Indian film industry. While savouring South India’s delicious cuisine, Vishnu Manchu opened up about how he had always wanted to become an actor since his childhood. He also shared how his dad has always been an inspirational figure for him to get into the film industry. Read on to know more about it.

For Vishnu Manchu, His Father Is An Inspiration

While speaking about his upcoming film Kannappa, Kamiya asked him if the idea of becoming an actor came from looking up to his dad, who is a big superstar in the South. Vishnu went on to share the incident which was stuck in his head. He said, “When we used to live in Chennai, during every festival or on Saturdays and Sundays, there used to be these two buses which used to come from different parts of Andhra to Chennai and they used to take them across the actor’s houses.”

From childhood, Vishnu had witnessed his father’s stardom, where people would step off buses near their home, shout his name, and ask for autographs, and his father would wave back at them. He said, “There are a few people who even tattooed his name on their hand, and that is still stuck in my head.” And he always felt that this was the kind of recognition he had always wanted in his life as well. He always desired to achieve the same popularity, which inspired him to pursue a career in acting.

He Follows His Father’s Ideology Of Being Punctual

To meet us, Vishnu showed up before we did, which surprised Kamiya. She was genuinely impressed and complimented him for being ahead of time. She said, “Our meeting time was 11:30 AM, but Vishnu arrived at the location at 11:20 AM.” In response, he shared one of his father’s old sayings, which he used to tell him in broken English.

Mohan Babu believed that if the lead actor arrives late and keeps the entire unit waiting, it’s unacceptable. Instead, if the lead actor arrives early and waits for everyone else, that’s perfectly fine; the entire unit should never have to wait for one person. Discipline is the one piece of advice from his father that Vishnu always remembers and follows.
