The Andaman and Nicobar Islands capital Port Blair is a popular tourist destination. Every year, tourists from across the country fly here. However, due to its weather, Vistara had to cancel flights from Kolata to Delhi to operate additional flight on the Kolkata-Port Blair route for Stranded passengers.
Vistara Operates Additional Flight On Kolkata-Port Blair Route
A flight from Kolkata to Delhi that was scheduled for Sunday had to be cancelled, according to full-service airline Vistara, in order to make room for extra planes for travellers who were left stranded in Port Blair and Kolkata.
An airline spokeswoman issued a statement late on Saturday. It stated that due to poor weather in Port Blair, Vistara Flight UK747 operating from Kolkata to Port Blair and the return flight UK787 on September 30, 2023, were cancelled. They are operating one additional trip on the two sectors on October 1, 2023, for the stranded customers in the two locations. Further, they had to make the difficult decision to cancel one of their flights scheduled to fly from Delhi to Kolkata and then back to Delhi in order to accommodate these additional flights.

A spokeswoman for Vistara told customers that the airline is in direct communication with them to offer them alternatives, such as tickets on the next flights, refunds, or other accommodations, and expressed sincere apologies for any trouble this may have caused.
Another Flight From Chennai Was Cancelled!
Earlier, Air India aircraft from Chennai and Kolkata to Port Blair had to turn around because of safety worries brought on by poor visibility close to the Port Blair runway. The flights, carrying a combined 350 passengers, had to perform a U-turn, leaving stranded and irate passengers.
On their approach to Port Blair Airport, the Air India flights from Chennai to Port Blair, carrying about 170 passengers, and from Kolkata to Port Blair, carrying about 180 passengers, encountered bad weather. The airline had to choose between returning to Chennai and Kolkata because of the dangerously low visibility brought on by the inclement weather.
On the journey to Chennai, passengers voiced their displeasure, with several at first refusing to get off the plane. But later in the afternoon, following a lengthy conversation with airport staff, the passengers followed the airline’s directions.

Many travellers in Chennai claimed that Air India had been mismanaged at the airport.
