Vistara Sued For ₹2.7 Cr In Delhi HC For Hot Drink Spill Incident Causing 2nd-Degree Burns To 10-YO

The parents of a minor girl sued Vistara Airlines in Delhi High Court for ₹2.7 crore for causing second-degree burns to their child. The parents claimed the airline staff spilt a hot beverage on their daughter’s legs during their flight from Delhi to Frankfurt. Due to this incident, the Delhi High Court has now called Vistara Airlines to appear in the court for the same.

10-YO Child’s Parents Sue Vistara For Spilling Hot Beverage On Daughter & Causing 2nd Degree Burns

A report by LiveLaw, stated that the Delhi High Court has asked Vistara to appear in the court in response to a plea by the parents of the 10-year-old child who faced second-degree burns after an airline staff spilt a hot drink on her legs. Vistara is asked to file a written statement within 30 days of receiving the summons. The case is scheduled for March 21, 2024, for completion of pleadings.

This incident happened on August 11, 2023, on a Vistara Delhi-Frankfurt flight. Rachna Gupta, the aggrieved’s mother took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a series of posts about the untoward incident. She informs that she was travelling with her daughter, Tara. The daughter asked a flight attendant for hot chocolate. While opening the service tray, one of the cups of hot chocolate spilt on the 10-year-old child, who was watching a movie.

Airline Sued For ₹2.7 Crore In Delhi High Court

The extremely hot beverage caused second-degree burns to the child, scalding her legs. Furthermore, the angry mother slammed the Vistara crew for lacking basic first-aid knowledge. They didn’t tend to the matter appropriately. Moreover, she states the flight attendant, captain and even crew members didn’t apologise. After deboarding, the mother took her child to an ambulance at her own expense. She had to navigate German medical emergency services without any help.
