You’d have heard the phrase, “It’s all about marketing.” Marketing is everything. Those ‘Gram-worthy photographs and eye-catching reels can make anything look gorgeous, especially restaurants. A vlogger decided to put this phenomenon to the test by creating a fake ramen restaurant on social media. The result? Long serpentine queues outside the “restaurant” with customers salivating for those delicious-looking bowls of ramen.

Stanley Chen, a digital content creator took the food industry by storm after he set up a fake ramen restaurant. In videos uploaded on YouTube and Instagram, Stanley explained how he set up this restaurant, created a fake website, invited influencers for tastings and convinced them about the exotic nature of the food.

The content creator first starts by naming his restaurant “Nise Ramen”. The word “nise” means “fake” in Japanese. So, the name of his restaurant literally translates to “Fake Ramen”. Next, he decided to click aesthetic pictures of ramen at his home. For this, he prepared instant ramen, poured this into fancy bowls and decorated them with vibrant flowers. With these pictures, Stanley created a fake website for his 5-star fake ramen restaurant.

To create a buzz around the restaurant, he uploaded a video on TikTok apart from sending emails to influencers for free tastings. In no time, this TikTok video and his phone blew up with requests from influencers to try the 5-star ramen. In the reel, he speaks to influencers asking her how many followers she has. Later, he clarifies to her that only interested customers can arrive but they need to wait outside.

Served Instant Ramen In Omakase Style & Netizens Are Shocked By The Response

On the day of Nise Ramen’s opening, Stanley and his team zhuzhed up the place with a projector to display scenes of nature to add to the ambience. They also hired a DJ to play nature noises and called the experience, “Ramen Forest” where guests were served ramen in an omakase set up as per their aura. He claims that over 100 people lined up for three hours to get a table there.

Diners were served nothing but instant ramen garnished with meat, veggies and edible flowers. At the end of the video, guests were asked to give feedback on the ramen experience. Most of them gave positive responses. A man even replied he was willing to pay a whopping $45-50 (₹4000) for this meal.

Netizens filled the comments section of his reel on Instagram with their opinions. While some called it “peak entertainment” another said, “marketing is everything”. Another joked how it’s proof that “fake it till you make it” really works.
