The Jubilee star revealed that in 2019, she had made up her mind to leave the industry, but something powerful shifted her perspective entirely. She Wasn’t Enjoying Her Work Anymore

During the candid chat over a delicious spread, Wamiqa Gabbi shared that 2019 was a turning point for her. “I wasn’t enjoying the work I was doing then, and that was making me sad,” she admitted. The actress explained that she was not in touch with her craft and lacked a deeper understanding of acting. Despite being in the industry, Wamiqa Gabbi felt lost. “If I knew and understood the craft then, I would’ve never thought of quitting,” she said.

A Three-Day Workshop That Changed Everything

What turned things around for Wamiqa Gabbi was an acting workshop she attended for a show with Vishal Bhardwaj titled Midnight’s Children. The workshop, led by the esteemed Atul Mongia, was a life-changing experience. “It was just three days. But those three days changed my life,” she recalled.

Wamiqa Gabbi shared how she entered the workshop without pressure or expectations. “I was so sure I wouldn’t get the show that I surrendered to the process. That freedom helped me discover the beauty of acting.” For the first time, she realised that understanding a character is like understanding a real person—something she could never get bored of.

She Found Her True Calling In The Craft

By the end of the workshop, Wamiqa Gabbi knew she couldn’t leave acting. The emotional and creative connection she discovered helped her reconnect with her passion. “I had given up, but that experience helped me understand that I cannot do anything else,” she confessed.

Today, Wamiqa Gabbi is one of the most celebrated faces in Indian cinema and OTT platforms, and her journey is proof that sometimes, the darkest moments lead to the brightest breakthroughs.
