We are proud of India’s ever-growing infrastructure. However, the poor road conditions of the country are not hidden from anyone. The bad road conditions in East Bengaluru have become a cause of embarrassment for a techie in the city. In an X (formerly Twitter) post, a man expressed how he is unable to invite his European friends home because of the “terrible condition” of the road leading to his home. Scroll on to see what he has to say and how netizens reacted to this post.
Bengaluru Man Embarrassed To Invite European Friends Home Due To Poor Roads
Dilemma of a techie! 🥲 @siddaramaiah, @DKShivakumar Sir, when will Bengaluru’s roads become world-class? #BrandBengaluru pic.twitter.com/geiXfUflV4

In a post shared by Citizens Movement, East Bengaluru (@east_bengaluru), a Bengaluru techie, who returned to Bengaluru after working in Europe, shared how he wanted to invite his friends from Europe and the USA to his home but is unable to do so. The reason behind his dilemma is his embarrassment about the roads near his home.
He explains that his friends are in the city “for the 100 km World Championship on December 7th” and he wishes to invite them home but the road leading to his house is in “terrible condition.” He further explained that he doesn’t want to show them where he lives because he feels “it would give a bad impression of India.” Expressing his frustration further, he says he often wonders why he relocated to Bengaluru from Europe and asked, “When will our roads become world-class?” This, of course, has sparked a debate online and the internet has a lot to say.
Netizens React & Talk About Road Conditions In The City
Many people commented and shared their frustration about the bad road conditions in Bengaluru. While many named the areas and roads that are not in good condition, a few even shared videos to show how bad it really is in the city. Some people defended and shared how not all roads are bad in the city. Here are some comments that you cannot miss out on.

Bangalore roads are really pathetic comparison to other metro road… can’t understand why they don’t make roads..

Which part of Bangalore is he talking about ? Generic shaming of the city serves no purpose.

Drop a pin anywhere on a Bangalore map and the roads will be in shambles, unless it is around MG Road,Vidhana Soudha or around @DKShivakumar residence.

Only main roads are in better conditions, a little inside, and your car cries.

Even South Bangalore Bannergata, Kanakpura road, North Blr Hennur are also bad. Only CBD roads are ok.

Never, I just visited thailand for vacation. looking at their cities, i feel ashamed of being Indian. our cities infra are pathetic. We just boosting ourselves with fake nationalism with no development.

Even in my area roads are in same condition
— AMIT ARYAN (@er_Amit_Aryan) December 4, 2024
Very true. It’s an embrassement. I am ashamed that my city Bengaluru, which is known as tech & silicone city of India, lacks basic infrastructure & an honest government administration. Bad roads are the reason for slow-moving vehicles, high repair costs & high fuel consumption

Even Indonesia has better roads than Bengaluru. Feel so ashamed when we see the clean roads, well maintained footpaths all along. Rain water drains out quickly. No garbage on the roads even in interior villages. See our roads yesterday pics in Marathahalli pic.twitter.com/cHOLYUD1tz

We can’t expect the good road until we start fighting against corruption.
— soore (@soore1036720) December 4, 2024
Why are you guys in denial. Corrupt babus and netas are shaming the city not citizens are asking for better infrastructure.
This is a major road according to BBMP and been like this since many many months https://t.co/83M2RjQ6S8

This shows, amount of reasearch u did in buying home here. Didnt you check the roads before buying. You land up in remote village n call it Bengaluru.
Thats not Bengaluru, Ask your friends to come to Jayanagara JP Nagara and see the real Bengaluru.

Make them run the last leg, anyways they are coming for a 100km competition ;-)
— Mfa Shiv (@ShivMfa) December 3, 2024
poor road conditions result from combination of systemic structural and operational challenges including rapid urbanization and overuse poor quality materials and construction practices often influenced by corruption or lack of oversight result in roads that deteriorate quickly.
