The video that Chef Vikas shared on his Instagram was first shared by the Delhi-based food blogger who goes by the name King Discovers. The video starts with the narrator taking us to the kitchens of the iconic Golden Temple in Amritsar.
The narrator tells us that the kitchens of the Golden Temple house are some of the biggest kadhais in the whole world. They are always making dal for the langar and each gigantic kadhai makes up to 500 kg of dal for the langar. There are around three giant kadhais in the kitchen.
Dal made in these kadhais feeds lakhs of people every day. Since dal is one thing that is always being made, the kadhai has an attached tap so that the cooks don’t have to waste their time and energy pouring water into the giant kadhai.
