The sea is full of fascinating creatures. There’s no dearth of diversity in the vast oceans of the world and what we know about oceans is merely the tip of the iceberg. Recently, a fascinating video went viral on social media which showed a ‘cleaner fish’ in a man’s mouth. Now, you might say that people eating fish is nothing new. But hold on a second! The man wasn’t eating the fish, rather, it looked like the fish was eating inside his mouth!

The video was first posted in July by Marine Shop Noa which is located in Japan. This video was recently shared on X (formerly, Twitter) by a user which made it go viral. The short video shows a diver with his mouth wide open.
A tiny black-striped fish is seen swimming in and out of the diver’s mouth. The fish is called ‘cleaner wrasse’ and it feeds on dead skin cells and plaque, which humans have a lot of.
You must have seen videos of places offering a special foot massage where patrons dip their feet in a pool of water and a bunch of fish eat dead skin cells off it. Similar fish are used in that massage too!

After the video was shared on X, many people took to the comment section to express their awe as well as disgust. Many people commented that they would never let any fish in their mouths as they carry parasites. Others were fascinated and wanted to try it too!
Some even joked and said that hopefully, the fish wouldn’t be too curious and doesn’t end up swimming down the diver’s gullet! Yet others shared fascinating facts about the fish.
