Picture this: it’s raining outside and you are curled up in a cosy corner with a cup of chai and a book. Seems like the perfect plan, right? The rainy season is fun and pleasant only when we are indoors. It feels nothing but unbearable to stay outdoors in this season. Many of our travel plans are getting cancelled due to unpleasant weather conditions. More plans are about to get postponed as heavy rainfall is expected in several parts of India. From West to South, different states are presently on alert.
IMD Issued Red Alerts For Heavy Rainfall In Several Indian States
India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued alerts for massive showers in many Indian states and Maharashtra is one of them. Heavy rains already triggered chaos in multiple places and the waterlogged Mumbai-Pune expressway was one of the recently affected areas. Now, the warning has been issued for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms for the next few days.
Residents of Kolhapur, Ratnagiri, Satara, and Sindhudurg, stay very safe. Red alerts have been issued for these districts, according to a report by The Times of India-Indiatimes. Also, Mumbai and Palghar are on yellow alert. Pune, Raigad, and Thane are currently on orange alert. IMD released a statement mentioning very likely chances of isolated extremely heavy showers in Gujarat on July 16.
Goa is also likely to receive isolated extremely heavy rains on Tuesday. IMD has already issued a red alert for this coastal state. Other places in India that may get lashed by heavy rainfall and are on red alert status are Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Saurashtra, Kutch, South Interior Karnataka, and Coastal Karnataka, according to a report by The Financial Express.

Kerala Has Been Warned As Well
Along with the above-mentioned places in India, IMD issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Kerala too. The weather warning for extremely heavy rainfall is for Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod. Also, there is an orange alert for Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Wayanad. The state may receive rainfall of over 20 cm.
People, stay alert and safe. Do not step outdoors unnecessarily and follow all guidelines and restrictions.
