Bryan Johnson, who is popular on Instagram as an anti-ageing influencer, has now posted a video claiming that cannabis or weed may harm blood flow and impact lifespan just like tobacco. His video has sparked mixed reactions from netizens, with some supporting his claims, while others not taking it seriously.
Bryan Johnson Claims Cannabis Is As Bad As Tobacco
Anti-ageing Instagram influencer and world-famous bio-hacker, Bryan Johnson, known for undergoing experimental treatments to slow down ageing and improve skin, recently shared a new video on Instagram. He claimed that smoking or eating cannabis, often considered a herbal alternative to tobacco, can damage the arteries and reduce blood flow in a similar way to smoking.
Johnson said that smoking weed may reduce blood flow by 40%, while edibles like brownies may cause a 50% drop. He also clarified that his post was not an “anti-weed rant” but was based on flow-mediated dilation (FMD) studies, which assess how well blood vessels expand with increased blood flow. The 47-year-old influencer added that cannabis could harm heart health and shorten lifespan. He added, “Whether it’s in a pipe or a brownie, weed doesn’t vibe with your longevity.”

His Post Sparked Mixed Reactions Online
While his post may hold some truth, it received mixed reactions online. One user agreed with his claims, commenting, “I’m 4 months clean from cannabis” Another added, “Not to mention it disconnects you from reality” Some, however, did not take it too seriously. One of the users also said, “It helps me sleep, and I’ve just quit alcohol, so I’ll be okay.” Another joked, “Come to Jamaica, where we smoke weed every day and live to be very old. ”
It is clear that Johnson’s video has sparked mixed opinions from the users on Instagram. However, it should also be noted that there have been many studies on cannabis, some showing potential health risks and others pointing to benefits. Still, if you are someone concerned about heart health or longevity, you might want to steer clear of it.
