The Western Railway has announced an upgrade of one of its most prestigious trains, the Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vandhe Bharat Express. Starting May 11, 2025, the train is getting 4 additional AC Chair Car coaches. This will not only significantly increase passenger capacity on the train but also make it easier for more people to access the train and its benefits.
Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express Gets 85,000 More Seats Annually
India’s third Vande Bharat train, the Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express, was launched in September 2022. Quickly, it earned a reputation for speed, comfort, and state-of-the-art features. It covers the 520 km journey between Mumbai Central and Gandhinagar Capital in just 6 hours and 25 minutes. It is certainly one of the fastest ways to travel across the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
It operates 6 days a week except Wednesdays with stops at key cities like Surat, Anand, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Vapi, and Borivali. According to the Jagran reports, the train currently operates with 16 coaches, which include 2 Executive Chair Cars and 14 AC Chair Cars with a total of 1,128 seats. The EC coaches each have 52 seats, while the AC Chair Car coaches C1 and C14 offer 44 seats each, and the remaining C2 to C13 provide 78 seats each.
This number will go to approximately 85,000 extra seats per year. During rush seasons, holidays, and long weekends, this availability will be a great benefit for all the travellers. The increased seating capacity is a major transformation that will bring greater comfort for all the passengers looking to explore Mumbai and Gujarat.
