Indian Railways has introduced advanced air curtains in Vande Bharat Express to boost passenger comfort and energy efficiency. This new feature has been added to the New Delhi-Khajuraho route and is expected to be installed on other routes across India soon. Air Curtains In Vande Bharat Express For Passenger Comfort

Aligning with Indian Railways’ vision of modernising railway infrastructure by adding sustainable and energy-efficient solutions, Vande Bharat Express on the New Delhi-Khajuraho route has now been equipped with advanced air curtains. The air curtains create an invisible barrier at the doors. This helps prevent unwanted heat, dust, and pollutants from entering the air-conditioned cabin of the train.

Overall, it helps in maintaining a consistent, comfortable temperature inside the coaches, regardless of the weather outside. Also, they ensure that the conditioned air inside the train does not escape every time the doors open and close. This improves the energy efficiency of the air conditioning systems.

According to The Financial Express, Indian Railways is currently facing issues connecting Srinagar in Kashmir with other parts of India as the conventional air-conditioned coaches are not suitable for travel in extreme cold conditions that exist in the valley. That’s why, they will operate heated coaches on the Jammu-Srinagar section of Vande Bharat trains. The Railways is also considering equipping conventional air-conditioned coaches with heated air curtains. This will be more effective in insulating the space inside coaches from the extreme cold outside. Trails for the same are already underway.
