According to an article which was recently published by The Economic Times or ET, the government aims to save children and underage kids from porn addiction. It is, therefore, launching an app that will prevent underage kids from accessing pornographic content.

The Porn Passport is an application within the government’s new digital wallet initiative. It will begin towards the end of this month. Users will have to verify their age with the help of this app. Once verified, the users will be issued 30 porn credits that will allow adults to access porn.

Each credit will let a user access one link ten times. The user’s age will be verified using the government-issued ID. If reports are to go by, adults can access pornographic content anonymously, however, many have raised concerns about privacy.

It is important to note that there is no limit to the number of credits that can be generated each month. Users can renew the porn credits issued to them. However, the more credits a person uses the chances of them being traced become higher. This has raised concerns since the access is supposed to be anonymous.

And yet, if it is, indeed, anonymous, then tracing a person’s usage should not be possible. Hence, many have raised concerns about privacy but the government claims that the system is very privacy-friendly.
