Taiwan is currently facing a labour shortage. As per the country’s National Development Council, Taiwan will witness a workforce deficit of 3,50,000 by 2028. To alleviate this problem, the Taiwanese government has announced a new Global Elite Card. With this new card, the country aims to welcome 2,00,000 international professionals and technical workers.

How will the Global Elite Card help the foreign professionals? Well, as per an Investment Migration Insider report, with this new card, Taiwan will offer permanent residency to the professional within one year of staying in the country. This is much faster than the existing Gold Card which requires three years for the same.

Foreign professionals with an annual salary of more than TWD 6 million (₹1,57,23,074) can apply for this new card. The card will also allow people to get work permits for their spouses and enable unrestricted stays for dependent relatives.
