If you’re planning to travel to Thailand soon, then you should know that from May 1, 2025, all foreign visitors will need to submit a Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). This new online system is set to replace the existing traditional TM6 paper form. Thai authorities hope this new system will make travel to Thailand faster, smoother, and more secure. Scroll on to know more about this.
All About Thailand’s Mandatory Digital Arrival Card
All non-Thai nationals entering Thailand by air, land, or sea must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online before arrival, starting May 1, 2025. This is part of Thailand’s Smart Tourism Destination initiative that aims at modernising travel experiences and integrating immigration with other key government services like e-visas, health screening, and tourism fee collection.
The idea is to give travellers a seamless arrival process while boosting security and efficiency at border control. They are reducing paperwork and making immigration processing faster, easier, and more secure. For Thailand, experts believe, this will help boost tourism and make it a more tech-savvy and traveller-friendly destination.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card is mandatory for all foreigners arriving in the country. However, if you’re only passing through Thailand, that is, if you’re a transit tourist, then you do not have to go through immigration control and can skip the TDAC process. Also, Border Pass Holders, people with special travel permissions for border crossings, are exempt from TDAC.
