Long wait times in immigration lines are a common part of international travel. However, you can now pass through immigration quickly and easily thanks to the Fast Track Immigration—Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP). Frequent travellers can save a great deal of time at airports by taking advantage of this initiative. It aims to improve the immigration clearance process. Here’s a closer look at how this program works, how to apply, and where it’s available.

The FTI-TTP is a unique programme created to help qualified travellers get through immigration more quickly. Both foreign nationals with an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card and Indian nationals are eligible for the programme. It guarantees a quicker, easier, and more secure entry or exit from India by enabling pre-approved, low-risk travellers to use automated e-gates and avoid long immigration queues.

Eligible travellers can use automated e-gates at specific airports after enrolling in the FTI-TTP. These gates are a component of an efficient system that uses biometric information to confirm the traveller’s identity. This will let you avoid the wait time and finish your immigration process swiftly.

Applying for the FTI-TTP is simple. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Eligibility Check: You have to be an OCI cardholder or an Indian national to be eligible. You also need to make sure your passport is good for at least 6 months.

2. Register Online: Go to the official FTI-TTP website and enter your information. You will have to use an OTP to verify your identity.

3. Document Submission: Upload a few essential documents:

  • Passport-sized photograph (within six months, white background).
  • Scanned copy of passport (with personal details and family details).
  • Address verification (as listed on the portal).
  • OCI cardholders are required to submit their OCI card as well.

4. Biometric Enrolment: After your application is accepted, you will be notified to make an appointment for biometrics at a specific airport or FRRO office.

5. Approval and Activation: After biometric enrolment, your FTI-TTP registration will be completed and you will be ready to use it. The duration of your membership is five years or until the expiration of your passport.

The primary advantage of FTI-TTP is that it will save you a lot of time at the airport. Immigration clearance typically takes 30 minutes. But now, it can be done in seconds. The fast-track lanes are only accessible to authorised travellers. The initiative started at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. It will soon be accessible at more than 20 Indian airports, including important ones like Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

So, if you’re eligible for the Fast Track Immigration Programme, your next international trip could be the smoothest one yet!
