Well, here are the preliminary assessment answers:
Immense Damage In Shimla, Himachal Pradesh
On Monday, a meeting with a team of officials assembled to discuss the preliminary assessment of damage caused by recent severe rains in Shimla was presided over by Himachal Pradesh chief secretary Prabodh Saxena.
According to a preliminary analysis, unprepared drainage systems, irresponsible mining of hills, and the placement of waste along sensitive slopes were to blame for the significant damage in the state capital.
The chief secretary said that Shimla received 552.1 mm more rain in August of this year than it did in August of 2022 (514.30 mm more). According to him, well-designed buildings with suitable drainage systems and secure disposal of construction-related waste should receive special attention in order to lower the risks associated with disasters.

Measures Were Also Discussed
Saxena claimed that unintended construction and canal diversion caused by clogged drains caused the most harm in Shimla. In order to adopt and strictly apply the model building guidelines in all urban and rural areas, he recommended that the state’s disaster-prone areas be assessed.
Measures to ensure the safety of building construction in rural areas, including rules governing construction near rivulets, nullahs, and slopes with steep inclinations, were discussed.
Directors-cum-special secretaries of revenue D. C. Rana, Onkar Chand Sharma, and Devesh Kumar, along with other officers, were present at the meeting. (As per The Times Of India)
