What Is Threads, Meta’s New Twitter Rival That Has Crossed 10 M SignUps?

On a wee Thursday morning, Meta ruled out a new social media platform, that looks like it can give some competition to Twitter. Well, if you’re not living under a rock, then you know, we are talking about Threads. The social media platform looks like an extension of the popular Instagram photo and video-sharing features to build a welcoming and imaginative community where people can share their thoughts.

Through its current user base, Meta and hence Threads can reach a considerably larger audience through its easy and direct user-friendly link through Instagram. Its strength may lie in its connections to Instagram, which will likely help it attract users rapidly. Well, Mark Zuckerberg also wrote in a thread earlier today, “Just passed 5 million sign-ups in the first four hours…”

However, the feature is in the EU region and introduced in 100 countries. Although Threads arrived earlier than expected despite being scheduled for later, Meta released it soon. While Twitter has been undergoing a lot of changes, Threads came in quite timely! Even Twitter started to restrict the number of tweets individuals may see. This new Twiiter-rival has the features to compete.

The primary characteristic that distinguishes Threads from Twitter is that it aspires to be decentralised. You should thus be able to integrate your Threads postings into other social networking networks in the future.

How To Get Started With Threads?

With a few small exceptions, the app functions similarly to Twitter. Short postings can be up to 500 characters long and contain photographs, links, and videos up to five minutes long. Your Threads feed will be algorithmic, so it will be made up of a combination of the users you follow and suggested stuff, just as Instagram is right now.

However, it has a more Instagram-like aesthetic that uses the same Instagram typeface and iconography. A topic can be liked, replied to, or reposted. The feed will include both recommended material from individuals you follow and stuff from people you don’t follow.

To use this new app, you must download Threads as a standalone app from the Apple or Android store. Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can log in using your Instagram account and select to follow the same users you do on Instagram.

One of the greatest advantages of Threads over other Twitter replacement programmes is this: On Instagram, more than 2 billion individuals already have a built-in social network, so, you don’t need to start from zero with your following base.

As a new user follows and thread activity alerts have been ringing on the phone since the morning, the thrill is apparent. As I write, it is still.

So, are you on Threads yet?
