Since they can’t be cultivated in large quantities, these apples are very costly, priced at almost ₹1500 for one piece.
2. Bardsey Apple
Native to Bardsley Island, a stunning island in Wales, this apple variety is as beautiful, and delicious as it is rare.m With a distinctive lemon scent, this sweet and juicy apple is a medium-sized fruit. It’s believed to have been first grown on the side of a mansion erected by Lord Newborough in the 1870s. This fruit is priced at ₹1400 per piece.

Diamonds are forever. And the allure of the Black Diamond apple variety is forever. A distinct violent hue, a seductively blackish tinge, makes this apple stand apart from the rest. A Tibetan variety, it’s found in Nyingchi province of the region. The secret behind its rare colour is the exposure to UV light caused by its cultivation on an elevation and the drop in night temperature. One piece of Black Diamond apple costs ₹1000.
4. Black Oxford Apple
One can’t bite into a Black Oxford apple before admiring its striking purple colour. It’s Instagram-friendly to say the least. The medium-sized fruit is known to have a complex taste of sweetness, tartness and a hint of spice. Black Oxford has a purplish red hue which is almost black and the colour combined with the taste, makes it one of the most expensive apples in the world. One piece of Black Oxford costs ₹700 per piece.

5. Pink Pearl Apple
Pink Pearl apple looks light green on the outside and pink on the inside, like a pink guava. The sweet-tart-flavoured fruit, first cultivated in 1944 by Albert Etter in California offers quite a surprise when cut into two. It’s often a favourite amongst bakers who like to cook it in tarts and sauces. It’s priced at ₹500 per piece.
