Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, the second-busiest airport in the state of Kerala, witnessed a massive exit of more than 300 employees recently. According to The New Indian Express report, these employees have resigned and opted to transfer to other airports managed by the AAI. This move came three years after the privatisation process of the airport was completed.

Reportedly, the airport is currently completely owned by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL). The company will run all operations at the airport for the next 50 years, as per the agreement. During the takeover process that started in 2019, AAI employees were given the option to continue working at the airport or transfer to other AAI-run ports in the country till October 13. Around 300 of them chose to take transfers to other airports in the country after providing the new employees with all the required training.

While talking to The New Indian Express, K.P Suresh, President of the Airport Authority Employees Union (AAEU) mentioned that to make the privatisation process smoother, AAI and AAHL jointly ran operations at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport for the first three years. Three years ago, AAHL officially took over all controls and has now hired about 90% of the necessary staff. Therefore, the airport does not face any staff shortage anymore.
