According to their data, they have noticed a 30% increase in demand for travel by North Indians, as compared to 2023. While spiritual tourism was a big hit on the domestic front, Europe emerged as the favourite destination for this region.
North Indians Show More Travel Intent In 2024
With a massive 30% surge in travel demand, North Indians are travelling more than ever before! As per SOTC’s report, the travel company has noticed a massive increase in travel inquiries from this region. They have noted a 30% increase in travel intent and a 20% increase in holiday spending by North Indians, as compared to 2023.
SOTC has also noticed an increase in spontaneous travel amongst North Indians. As per their data, booking windows have been reduced to 30 to 45 days for long-haul destinations; and 20 days for short-haul and domestic travel. People are planning multiple trips in 2024. This means, people in this region are not just planning longer vacations, but they are planning shorter vacations like weekend and extended weekend getaway trips as well this year.
Top Domestic & International Destinations For 2024
So, where are North Indians travelling to in 2024? Well, as per SOTC, Europe remains the top choice for a holiday amongst North Indians. Destinations like Switzerland, France, Finland, Austria, and Germany have been some of the most travelled to holiday destinations this year.
Besides Europe, Japan, Australia, the USA, UAE, Singapore, Vietnam, Turkey and Kenya were also some of the crowd favourites. South Korea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia emerged as the new favourites with their visa-free or easy visa travel policies.
On the domestic front, spiritual tourism has been in demand by North Indians. They have also noticed an increase in family holidays this year. Top domestic destinations loved by North Indians this year have been Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Goa, Andamans and North East.
