In 2010, Varissiri Mathachittiphan fondly called Poochie, chanced upon a Siamese-Tabby cat at an animal shelter in California, USA. It was love at first sight for Poochie, who instantly adopted the feline and named her Nala. The fluffy grey cat with green beady eyes and a pudgy round face was introduced to the world of Instagram by Poochie two years later. In no time, the adorable antics (like nibbling a toilet paper roll) gained a loyal fan following.

How loyal? Well, let’s say a humungous fan following of 4.5 million Instagrammers. From lazying on the bed, nesting in a cardboard box to flaunting her funny cat costumes, Nala’s antics amused Netizens and brought them joy. And Nala became an Internet sensation, monetising her fame. The cat now has a net worth albeit ₹922 crore and a social media presence that puts us to shame! Taking home ₹13 lakhs per Instagram post, this cat’s bank balance is paw-esome, to say the least.

A Guinness World Record Holder & Cat-Preneur

She also landed in the Forbes List of Top Influencers in the Pets category in 2017. Adding more furr to her hat, Nala is a cat-preneur owning Love Nala, her premium cat food company. The world’s richest cat with her cat mom Poochie have an impressive portfolio. This involves an e-book published by Penguin Random House in 2020 titled, “Living Your Best Life According to Nala Cat”.
