Held every year in Shillong, the Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates the blooming of the pink cherry trees. The festival began as a way to showcase Shillong’s natural beauty and cultural vibrancy, but it has grown into a larger platform that incorporates international music, food, and art.
Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival takes place on November 15 and 16 and features Senegalese-American pop star Akon, Maizie Williams of the popular pop group Boney M, rapper-singer Lucas from Hong Kong, EDM producer R3HAB, and more. Boney M. Williams, who is embarking on what is believed to be a farewell global tour, is among the first wave of musicians to be confirmed thus far. With a ‘Year of Legends’ theme, the two-day event heightens nostalgia with performances by Slovakian band Korn SK, a tribute to the American nu-metal pioneers, and Queen Sensation, a Russian tribute act.
Lucas, a member of SM Entertainment’s SuperM group, makes his debut in India at the festival. He most recently released his three-track single album, Renegade – The 1st Single via SM Entertainment in April. Pop hitmakers Jasleen Royal and Kanika Kapoor, together with Shillong musician Jessie Lyngdoh and a reunion of rock group The Great Society (which includes Lou Majaw, Rudy Wallang, and others), are among the Indian performers performing. The first phase lineup also includes pop musician Wanbhaa, hip-hop artist Reble, reggae band Dewdrops, and more.

Beyond the music, the Cherry Blossom Festival is a celebration of local culture. Visitors can experience the traditional cuisines of Meghalaya, featuring dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, and explore stalls showcasing handmade crafts and indigenous art. The festival also provides a platform for local musicians and dancers, allowing them to perform alongside international stars. The city’s picturesque setting amidst rolling hills, misty landscapes, and vibrant cherry blossoms creates a unique atmosphere for festival-goers.
Taking place at the RBDSA Sports Complex in Shillong, the Cherry Blossom Festival season pass is currently priced at ₹3,299, with VIP zone tickets priced from ₹8,999 onwards.
