Himachal Pradesh, known for its breathtaking landscapes and picturesque hill stations, is gearing up to enhance its air connectivity and boost tourism. In a significant development, two new air routes connecting the charming destinations of Kullu and Shimla to the vibrant city of Amritsar are set to take off soon. The Kullu to Amritsar flights are all set to kick off on October 1, followed by the commencement of flights from Shimla to Amritsar on November 1.

Kullu And Shimla Air Routes To Amritsar Announced

In an official statement released on Wednesday, it was announced that two new air routes connecting Kullu and Shimla to Amritsar will soon be operational. As per the Tribune India reports, Alliance Air has already begun ticket bookings for the Kullu-Amritsar route. These flights will operate three times a week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Notably, around 50% of the seats on this route will be subsidised. They will offer airfares of Rs 2,637 for the Kullu to Amritsar journey and Rs 3,284 for the return trip from Amritsar to Kullu.

The schedule and airfares for the direct flight from Shimla to Amritsar are yet to be finalised. As per the reports from Tridune India, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasised the importance of the tourism industry in providing employment opportunities for the youth of Himachal Pradesh. He also talked about its significant contribution to the state’s revenue. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to enhancing air connectivity and establishing heliports to boost tourism and economic development.

Himachal Pradesh’s Air Network Expands

Efforts are underway to expand the Kangra airport to further enhance the state’s air connectivity and accommodate larger aircraft. Additionally, new heliports have been developed in Shimla, Baddi, Rampur, and Kangnidhar (Mandi). Plans for another heliport in Manali are also underway, all aimed at facilitating travel within Himachal Pradesh.

The introduction of these new flights is expected to benefit both domestic and international tourists. It will also enhance the significance of Amritsar International Airport as a major hub connecting various destinations. This initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to promoting tourism and civil aviation. It will also enhance the accessibility of key tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh.

With these new air routes, the scenic beauty of Himachal Pradesh becomes even more accessible.
