The 189th Oktoberfest is here, and if you’re a lover of all things beer, Bavarian vibes, and a good ol’ fashioned party, this one’s for you! Imagine this: It’s the first day of the world’s largest folk festival, and the Theresienwiese fairgrounds in Munich are buzzing with excitement. Tens of thousands of beer enthusiasts are right there, soaking up the atmosphere for the 16-day Oktoberfest extravaganza.
Celebrate The 189th Oktoberfest In Munich!
The festivities kicked off in the most epic way possible. Munich’s mayor, Dieter Reiter, took the stage in the Schottenhamel tent, tapped the first keg with just two powerful strokes, and BOOM—the first pint was handed over to Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder. That’s when the whole place erupted into celebration, with mugs raised high and traditional Bavarian tunes ringing through the tents.
The parade that leads into the festival is chef’s kiss. On the first Saturday, Oktoberfest kicked off with the iconic parade of landlords. Think: stunning carriages decked out in all their finest, loaded with brewery barrels, rolling through the streets with live bands hyping up the crowd. This parade is a pure spectacle—over 1,000 people, from the brewers to the musicians, give it their all.

The World’s Largest Folk Festival Is Back
Now, brace yourself for the numbers. The festival is expected to draw in around 6 million visitors this year—yeah, that’s a lot of beer-loving peeps. Daily, you’ll find about 600,000 revellers clinking their mugs and digging into the hearty Bavarian fare. And speaking of beer, each Maß will run you between €13.60 and €15.30, according to Hindustan Times reports, but hey, it’s worth every euro. Just know, prices are a touch higher this year (about 3.87% more than last year).
Even with all the action, the vibe has been chill so far. The fairgrounds have been packed, especially in the beer gardens, where the weather has been nothing short of perfect. Sunshine, smiles, and plenty of Prost! all around.
The 189th Oktoberfest is running until October 6th, so you still have time to join the beer-soaked fun. Whether you’re in it for the drinks, the music, the parades, or just the festive Bavarian spirit, there’s something for everyone.
Just remember, no dancing on the tables!
