It was recently that we told you about how Wizz Air has announced its decision to stop operations in Abu Dhabi from September 1. Yes, the last day that it will be operating in the emirate will be August 31. As a result, many passengers who booked tickets beyond the month of August have been left wondering how they can get a refund. And we are here to help you out with this.

How To Reclaim A Refund For Cancelled Wizz Air Tickets

If you also happen to be someone who has already booked your tickets with Wizz Air for the dates beyond August 31, then as you might have already gathered that flights after this date won’t be possible anymore. However, you can claim a refund in a bunch of ways and here’s how this is possible.

The first step is to check your booking details and confirm the dates. Once you’ve noted the dates of your flight, booking reference number and the method through which you made the booking, more than half of your work is already done. You must have either made a booking directly via their website or through a travel agent or third-party website.

Important Things to Note For The Refund

If you have made a booking directly from the website of Wizz Air or even their mobile application, the airline will contact you. You will be given an option for a full refund or alternate travel arrangements, whichever you find more feasible. So, you might want to keep a close eye on your email inbox, even the spam folders, to monitor any message or announcement from the website.

If you have made a booking through a travel agent or online travel platform, it’s best that you contact them directly. These agents will be your point of contact for a refund or alternate travel options. So, make sure to provide them with your booking details if you wish to claim your refund.

Throughout this process, it is important that you keep all the copies of your communication with Wizz Air or your booking agent. This includes chat logs, phone call records, and even emails. As it happens, this documentation is important if you encounter any issues when it comes to a refund. And so you must also keep this in case you have any issues with the alternative booking process.

Refund Announced After Wizz Air Announces Last Abu Dhabi Flight

With this exit coming at the time of peak travel season, many people might be on strict timelines. As a result, they might already be looking for alternative flights. So, if you are also one of them, you might want to start exploring alternatives because last-minute bookings can lead to higher prices.

At this point, it’s worth noting that it was announced by Wizz Air on July 14, that it will cease its operations in Abu Dhabi from September 1. This comes due to ongoing engine problems, regulatory hurdles and regional tensions. With these issues, the low-cost Hungary-based carrier is finding it difficult to keep the costs low. As a result, it’s shifting its focus back to the markets in Europe.

So with the airlines making an exit from Abu Dhabi soon, it’s bound to affect travellers, as it was a great low-cost alternative in the region. As a result, flyers will now have to look for alternative low-cost carriers, one that will fit their budget while making holiday plans.
