As a beginner in the kitchen, I rely on YouTube videos and Instagram recipes to learn how to cook new dishes. Not gonna lie, it has become quite an enjoyable hobby! However, the learning process takes a setback when I come across videos of people making dishes using the most bizarre ingredients. Calling these unusual might be an understatement at times. This time, I found a video of making mashed potatoes using Pringles. Yes, the primary ingredient is our favourite potato chip brand.

Taking to Instagram, Jane Brain (@my.janebrain) showed the method for this preparation.

Though the reel is about cooking mashed potatoes, she did not use a single potato directly in this recipe. Jane began by boiling three packs of Pringles in water. After stirring everything, she added purple shallots, turmeric powder, and ginger garlic paste. She mixed everything gently to get a soup-like texture. Next, she strained the entire mixture and transferred everything left on the sieve to a pan.
The woman started cooking it with a huge portion of butter, cold milk, garlic powder, and onion powder. She gently folded all the ingredients to get a smooth and mushy texture. In the next step, she added grated cheese and mixed everything once again. Lastly, she garnished the preparation with chopped parsley and relished it.
Does This Recipe Get A Thumbs Up Or A Thumbs Down?
Shared about two weeks back, the video of preparing mashed potatoes went viral like crazy on Instagram. Currently, the reel has garnered more than 18.1 million views with 157K likes and almost 11K comments from Netizens. Do they approve of this unique recipe to cook this dish? Well, no! Foodies and potato lovers are unhappy seeing the hack to make mashed potatoes by boiling Pringles. They responded to the viral reel with hysterical reactions and judgments.
A Netizen commented, “Waste of money, time and health.” Someone asked, “Is your dad in jail?” Showing displeasure with the recipe, an Instagrammer wrote, “What in the prison cell block 4 recipe is this?” “I’ve never seen a more useless recipe in my life,” a Netizen commented. Someone called it “Heart attack in a bowl.”
